How the Oakland County Michigan Hackers Tour Works

The basics:

·         2 preseason rounds and 6, 18-hole Tournaments: 4 regular events, mid season major and end of season major (Tour Championship)

·         Each tournament is held at a different course in or near Oakland County

·         Tournaments are roughly every 3-4 weeks

·         Full handicap used (indexes capped at 36.4 per USGA ), everyone plays form the same tees

·         Aggressive handicap revision schedule to mitigate sandbagging

·         USGA rules are followed with a few minor tweaks to ensure pace of play

·         Top 3 places are paid for every tournament

·         Points list to crown season champ who receives championship fleece jacket

·         League fee covers:

o    Tournament place payouts: amounts based on number of players in the league

o    League gift and champions fleece

o    End of season banquet

o    League administration

·         Tournament greens fees paid ahead of each tournament (paid at the previous tournament) and are kept to $55 or less

o    Refunds made if a player withdraws no  later than 2 weeks prior to a tournament

·         To ensure our integrity, all players will adhere to basic league etiquette and by-laws

·         To ensure fairness, all players will be required to sign a league contract restating outlining rules and conduct; as well as a liability waiver (injury, property damage, loss or theft, and arbitration) prior to becoming a member

Handicaps:

·         Returning players’ handicaps for the first 2 tournaments will be based on the 2010 preseason rounds and their 3 lowest regular season rounds from 2009.

·         New players based on 2 preseason rounds plus one additional scorecard to be turned in prior to the first regular season tournament

·         Handicaps are revised every tournament and are based on a player’s 4 lowest scores

·         After each of the first two tournaments, returning player' scores from 2009 are dropped and 2010 scores (regular and preseason) are used

·         If a player beats their handicap by 4 or more strokes at any time, then their highest score of rounds used for handicap is dropped and the low round is counted twice

*Any disputes regarding scoring and payouts will be handled within the league via arbitration between parties in question and the league board.  All members agree to follow such arbitration and that such disputes will not be handled via litigation or other entities external to Hackers Tour Golf.

**Anyone caught sandbagging will be immediately removed from the league without refund of the league buy-in fee and without any refund of greens fees paid.

**Individual golfers assume all risk.  While golf is a tame and safe sport: any incidents that occur during HTG events including: injury to a player, injury caused to anyone by a players actions or errant shots, golf course and golf course equipment damage caused by a player, loss of theft of players equipment or personal effects are assumed by the players and not Hackers Tour Golf and its founders.   Each player will be asked to sign a waiver indemnifying Hackers Tour Golf and its founders against said risk.
